PRELIMINARY FALL TERM ANNOUNCEMENT
We’re going to try something different this fall. I am cautiously optimistic that it will make all of us happy. There are several changes so look closely.
There will not be “courses.” There will be one continuing Lecture Series which, with luck, will cohere and develop over the span of 10 weeks. I want to make room for as much flexibility as possible so that we can follow the ideas where they may lead us. Tentative topics for each lecture will be listed at the beginning of the series but there will be no reading list before the lectures, except in cases where a short reading will be discussed. Suggestions for further reading will follow the lecture. Each lecture will be one hour, not two. There will be a 1/2 hour Q&A after each lecture which can last longer if the discussion merits. The lectures will usually be on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4pm Eastern Time. As always, participants will get access to the recordings, so if you can’t make the live class you’ve still got the lecture. Tuition will be per lecture, or for the whole series at a modest discount.
I’ll be posting more details about the content soon, but many of you will not be surprised that we will be considering the implications for our everyday lives of a wide range of writers, scientists, artists and musicians including Henry Corbin, Helène Cixous, James Hillman, Clarise Lispector, Gaston Bachelard, Kaja Silverman, CG Jung, Luce Irigaray, Ivan Illich, Alice Notley, Emanuel Coccia, Leslie Scalapino, Cy Twombly, Diane Pasulka, Jeffrey Kripal, Gloria Anzaldua, Ted Gioia, Kimmerer LaMothe and many, many more. Our goal in the end is to break out of the assumptions about reality that have given rise to our current catastrophic global situation, and to learn how we might enact and inhabit new, positive and hopeful realities in our turbulent and uncertain times.
If you have questions or comments please email me at tcheetham@gmail.com.
The series will begin in mid-September.

See you there
This sounds wonderful!
