As many of you know, things have been moving fast and furiously in my little world. My reading of Jeffrey Kripal’s books, coupled with my jourenys in Brazil, which notably included initiation in the Bwiti tradition of Gabon, plus a number of other strange encounters, have left me in a fluid and novel state that I would like to get some kind of grasp of - particularly before I go to Europe to talk in June! In the talking-process which this lecture will be, I’d like to begin to think through the role of Angels in the thought of Henry Corbin and James Hillman, and the ever-expanding nature of the animist psychocosmology that we have been working on with the aid recently of Kaja Silverman, Elizabeth Sewell, Lou Andreas-Salomé, Luce Irigaray, Emanuele Coccia and others. I have loved JBS Haldane’s quip since I was 12 years old, but I have not known the radical extend to which it may indeed to correct. He wrote: “My own suspicion is that not only is the world queerer than we suppose - it is queerer than we can suppose.”
